SKN Haryana City Gas Distribution Private Limited was awarded by the PNGRB, the geographical area of Puducherry district to lay and operate the city gas distribution (CGD network). SKN HCGDPL won the bid out of nine bidders: Adani Gas, Torrent Gas, IOCL, HPCL, GAIL, BGRI, IMC and others.

SKN group is expanding its natural gas network in Puducherry, under the name of M/s East Coast Natural Gas Distribution Private Limited (ECNGDPL), which is registered under company act 2013.

ECNGDPL is committed to achieving the Minimum Work Program (MWP) submitted to PNGRB and started its project activities in the Puducherry district to provide Natural Gas for Domestic, Transportation, Industrial, and Commercial segments. ECNGDPL has signed an arrangement with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. for sourcing gas in the Tap-off point at Seshanganur Village (TN) near Sorapet (PY) and construction of City Gate Station is in progress.

The main steel pipeline network which will be the backbone of this CGD network is to be laid from City Gate Station (CGS near Sorapet village) to Puducherry City via Vazhudavoor road (SH-203). Initially, it is planned to build infrastructure for industrial areas at Sedarapet and Mettupalayam which are the two main industrial estates of Puducherry district. The primary network that is necessary for the supply of natural gas to Domestics (PNG), Vehicles (CNG), Commercials (Generators, Cooking, and Heating), and Industrials (Fuel) are designed in a way to cater to the natural gas requirement for a period of 25 years. The secondary network will be built on all the roads and streets of the Puducherry district to supply Natural Gas to end users. Under this project an area of 294 sq.km will be covered with 130 CNG stations and CGD system to fulfill the requirement of around 275,000 domestic customers in the next 8 years.

ECNG wishes to inform yourself that all the planning work related to CGD infrastructure is completed & is ready to go for implementation in full swing.
